この空の巨人は連合軍では製産されるが日本には工場や資料がないのだ

This giant of the skies is manufactured by the Allied Forces, however, Japan has neither the factories nor the materials

機あれど機なし

There are aircraft but no opportunity

日本軍の中で『わが航空機何機に有りや』と問はない兵はない。

There was not a single soldier in the Japanese army who did not ask, “How many aircraft do we have?”

ビルマにはその影だにないことは諸君もよく知っている。

You all know very well that there is no trace of them in Burma.

見たことがないではないか。

You've never seen them before, have you?

所が連合軍の強力な近代機は毎日の如く諸君の頭上をかすめて使命を完遂している。

However, the powerful modern aircraft of the Allied Forces fly overhead every day, completing their missions.

またイギリスやアメリカの大工場からどしどし戦線へ送りだされている。

They are being sent to the front lines in large numbers from factories in Britain and the United States.

日本機はどこに姿を消したのか？

Where did the Japanese aircraft disappear to?

あるにはあるが、日本本土の市町村を熾烈化する連合軍の空襲から守らねばならず、その余りのものは比島の友軍援護に駆りださねばならぬので、手一杯なのだ。

Although they do exist, they are fully occupied with defending the cities of mainland Japan from fierce Allied air raids, and any surplus forces must be sent to support friendly forces in the Philippines.

諸君を援護すべき航空機届かないのはこういう訳だ。

There is a proverb that says, “Don't throw good money after bad,” expressing the sentiment of a military faction that did not want to waste money on the now useless Burmese expeditionary force.

諸君のビルマ駐屯は余日幾何もない事の證據ではなかろうか？
