米軍がサイパン島に上陸した時、そこに約二万の日本人が居住していた。

When the U.S. military landed on the island of Saipan, about 20,000 Japanese were residing there.

少数は米軍に虐待されると聞かされていたので自害した。

A small amount committed suicide because they were told they would be mistreated by the U.S. military.

他の者は米軍側に来てこの写真が説明するごとく、安全に暮している。

Others came to the U.S. military side and live in safety, as this photo illustrates.

大人も子供も皆食べ物を与えられ病気になれば治療を受ける。

All adults and children are fed and treated when they fall ill.

仕事を欲する者は仕事をし、給料をもらっている。
