Thinning

間引とは大根や菜を間引く様、子供を堕胎或いは殺害する事を云う。

Thinning refers to the practice of thinning out radishes or greens, and by extension, refers to aborting or killing children.

徳川時代に広く行はれた。

It was widely practiced during the Tokugawa period.

ゆえに各藩ではこの弊風を禁じた。

Therefore, each domain prohibited this evil practice.

寳暦九年「1759」、土佐の大名は「天意及び教理に背き、且つ人道の精神なき者の弊風である」と断言した。

In the ninth year of Horeki (1759), the daimyo of Tosa declared it “a corrupt custom of those who defy the will of Heaven and the teachings of doctrine, and who lack the spirit of humanity.”

現今、またも若者を無望の戦闘に繰り出しつつある。

Once again, the youth are sent into hopeless battles.

軍閥の行為は同様に天意及び教理を無視しているのである。

The actions of the warlords likewise disregard divine will and doctrine.

すでに、日本国民はこれを自覚しつつある。
